‘A frightening piece to perform’: can Yoko Ono’s Cut Piece still shock?

Why This Matters

The restaging of Yoko Ono's 1964 performance piece "Cut Piece" at The Broad museum in Los Angeles serves as a timely reminder of the artist's pioneering role in performance art, where the audience's actions are integral to the work's impact. This event highlights the enduring relevance of Ono's work, which continues to challenge societal norms and push the boundaries of artistic expression.
