Editorial Standards & Principles

Global News Hub is committed to accuracy, transparency, and editorial independence. This page outlines the standards we hold ourselves to and how we make decisions about content.

Scope: The editorial standards below apply to original content published by Global News Hub in our Analysis section. Aggregated news headlines from BBC News, The New York Times, The Guardian, and other RSS sources are the editorial responsibility of their respective publishers. We curate only from outlets we consider established and reputable.

Our Core Principles

Every editorial decision at Global News Hub is guided by five foundational principles:

  • Accuracy: We verify information before publishing. Errors are corrected promptly and transparently.
  • Independence: Editorial decisions are made free from commercial, political, or advertiser influence.
  • Fairness: We present multiple perspectives and avoid taking partisan stances on contested issues.
  • Transparency: We are open about our sources, funding, methods, and any relevant conflicts of interest.
  • Accountability: We hold ourselves to the same standards we apply when covering others.

Source Selection Standards

Global News Hub aggregates content exclusively from established, reputable news publishers. Our criteria for source inclusion are strict:

  • Established track record: Sources must have a verifiable history of responsible journalism with named editors and staff
  • Editorial oversight: Sources must employ dedicated editorial teams with correction and retraction policies
  • No satire or opinion-only outlets: We exclude sources that primarily publish opinion, satire, or unverified user-generated content
  • No misinformation propagators: Sources flagged by fact-checkers for repeated misinformation are excluded permanently
  • Geographic and ideological diversity: We draw from sources across political spectrums and geographic regions to reduce systemic bias

Current approved sources include BBC News, The New York Times, The Guardian, Reuters, Associated Press, Washington Post, Deutsche Welle, NHK World, and 15+ national news agencies covering every major region.

Original Analysis & Opinion

In addition to aggregated news, Global News Hub publishes original editorial content. All original articles are:

  • Written and signed by identifiable members of our editorial team with traceable credentials
  • Clearly labeled as "Original Analysis" to distinguish them from aggregated wire content
  • Fact-checked against primary sources prior to publication
  • Corrected publicly if errors are identified post-publication, with corrections noted at the article level
  • Tagged by topic so readers can find related coverage and understand the editorial context

Fact-Checking & Corrections Policy

Accuracy is non-negotiable. Our approach:

  • All factual claims in original articles are verified against at least two independent primary sources
  • Statistical data is sourced directly from government agencies, peer-reviewed research, or established international bodies
  • When a claim cannot be independently verified within our deadline, it is attributed to the original source clearly and labeled as unconfirmed
  • Corrections to published articles are made within 24 hours of a confirmed error being identified
  • Significant corrections include a correction notice at the top of the article explaining what changed and why

Advertising & Editorial Independence

Global News Hub does not currently run paid advertising. The site is self-funded. Our editorial independence is therefore currently unconstrained by any commercial advertising relationship.

If advertising is introduced in the future, the following protections will apply:

  • No advertiser will have the ability to influence, edit, spike, or pre-approve any editorial content
  • Editorial decisions will be made by the editorial team, not any commercial or advertising function
  • Sponsored content, if any, will be clearly labelled as "Sponsored" or "Advertiser Content" and kept visually distinct from editorial content
  • Our full advertising policy will be published and updated before any advertising goes live

Handling Sensitive Topics

We apply extra care in several sensitive content areas:

  • Breaking news: We prioritize accuracy over speed; we will not publish unverified breaking news speculation as fact
  • Conflict reporting: We present reporting from multiple sides of armed conflicts, clearly attributing each perspective to its source
  • Health & medical: We cite peer-reviewed research and official health agencies; we do not promote unproven treatments
  • Electoral coverage: We apply heightened scrutiny to claims from political candidates and parties during election periods
  • Tragedy and crime: We follow best-practice guidelines on reporting sensitive events with dignity and without gratuitous detail
